When two elephants jump into bed together you get a baby elephant. When two monkeys jump into bed together you get a baby monkey. But when two Christians jump into bed together you don’t get a baby Christian.
That baby grows and has to choose for itself whether to be a Christian or not. My parents were Christians but I was not. I was a black sheep in my family and got into everything that opened and shut.
At the ripe old age of twenty-six my wife Delphine and I decided to become Christians. We learnt some interesting things about church teachings. Many ancient pagan beliefs and traditions have filtered into the Christian churches.
I have, and you too may have sometimes wondered if you really want to have a relationship with the kind of God portrayed by many churches. Many people who believe in some of the teachings about hell may want only just enough relationship to keep valid their “Get out of hell free” card.
I hope and pray that I can encourage you to question some of the traditional ideas that have crept into many churches today. As a result, you too can develop a fabulous relationship with Jesus and God. I pray that they will become your very, very best friends.
As we explore many practical themes from the Bible and life, I pray that you will experience more happiness and peace than you have ever had before.
